Generator Brands We Repair & Service

Find your generator make below, grouped by set builder, engine, alternator and controller, and open its repair guide. ProService Generator Repairs services and repairs the generator brands listed here, on site across Gauteng, as an independent company: we are not a dealer or agent for any manufacturer, and the brand names belong to their owners.

Each guide covers the faults we see most on that make, what we check and what to send before we arrive. Not sure which make you have? Our guide to identifying your generator shows you how to read the data plate.

Find Your Make by What It Builds

A generator carries up to four makers’ names: the company that built the set, the engine, the alternator and the controller. Look for the name on each plate, then open the guide that matches. Cummins, Generac, Gentech, Hyundai, Kipor, Kohler, Mac Afric, Red Rhino, Steco and Turner Morris build sets for more than one fuel, so each fuel has its own guide.

Generator makers

The name on the canopy or the generator plate: the company that built the complete set. Cummins, Caterpillar, MTU, Doosan and FAW also build engines, and the engine plate inside the canopy tells you which engine your set carries.

Engine makers

The name on the engine plate. These engines are fitted to sets built by other companies, so the canopy may carry a different brand. The engine plate decides the filters, fuel parts and engine repairs.

Alternator brands

The name on the alternator, the electrical end of the set. Its plate decides the AVR, the diodes and any rewind, whatever the engine is.

Controller brands

The module that starts, stops and protects the set and shows its alarms. Generac and some other set builders fit their own controllers, which are covered on their brand guides.

Browse by Fuel

Each fuel hub explains the faults and repairs for that kind of generator, which helps if you know the fuel but not the make.
