Himoinsa diesel
We repair and service Himoinsa diesel generators across Gauteng, most often enclosed commercial and industrial sets with automatic start. On these sets the canopy, the controller and the ATS matter as much as the engine, so we test all of them.
Independent service and repair: Himoinsa is a trademark of its owner, and ProService Generator Repairs is not a Himoinsa dealer or agent.
Callout fee waived when you accept our written quote. 1-year workmanship guarantee. See prices

A typical Himoinsa is an enclosed canopy set that starts automatically when the mains fails. When it does not, the fault can sit in the battery, the controller, the start signal, the fuel system or the transfer switch, and we test each in turn.
We record the engine make inside the canopy and the alternator make, because they decide the parts we order.
We service the engine inside the Himoinsa canopy to its plate schedule, and test the battery bank and charger on automatic standby sets.
Each service includes an ATS exercise, a controller alarm review and a check of louvres and airflow through the enclosure.
We work on enclosed Himoinsa commercial and industrial sets where access allows. The installation plates give us the kVA and engine make.
When a Himoinsa will not crank, we check the battery bank, the starter and any panel inhibit on the automatic standby installation.
When it cranks without firing, we trace the fuel filter, air in the lines and the solenoid inside the canopy.
We plan access through the enclosure doors before filter work, then diagnose the fuel path on the engine fitted.
Smoke under load can come from fuel delivery or from blocked louvres, which make the engine work harder under building load. We check both.
We read DSE, SmartGen and Himoinsa-integrated panels as displayed, and photograph the alarm history before going further.
When an automatic standby set runs but the building does not transfer, we test the ATS and the panel’s start output.
For overheating in the enclosure, we check coolant, the radiator face and louvre clearance. Dust on the radiator fins is a frequent finding.
We measure voltage at the breaker and AVR once engine speed is stable. Some Himoinsa installations use Leroy-Somer alternators.
We check the canopy, the automatic start, the ATS and the engine as one enclosed system.
Book a repair when the set fails to start automatically, trips on load or does not transfer.
Book a service when fluids are due and the set still exercises normally.
A Himoinsa canopy can idle smoothly and trip when the commercial load comes on. We compare fuel delivery, cooling airflow and the controller’s load limits under load.
A fuel or cooling repair on a moderate-hour Himoinsa is usually good value. Replacing the engine, alternator and panel on a high-hour canopy is a bigger decision.
On older enclosed sets, a new controller and ATS can cost more than an engine repair. We give you both figures before you decide.
Your cost includes canopy access time plus the engine, panel and ATS work. Control panel repair or reprogramming typically costs R3,500 to R14,000.
The Himoinsa faults we see most often on automatic standby sets, and our first checks.
The battery, the panel or the start signal.
The fuel path inside the enclosed canopy.
Coolant, the radiator or blocked louvres.
The ATS or the panel, while the engine is healthy.
The AVR or alternator, once engine speed is stable.
Himoinsa canopies with automatic start are our usual Himoinsa work.
We test the transfer as part of every standby diagnosis.
We check louvres and radiator clearance, not just the engine.
