Kipor Diesel Generator Servicing
On a Kipor, we change the oil and filters to the schedule for the engine on the plate, check the coolant on water-cooled STA sets, and test the battery and its charger.
Every service includes a review of the alarms on the diesel panel, so a warning is dealt with before it stops the set.
Kipor Diesel Generator Sizes We Service
Kipor diesel sets run from the compact KDE6500T, a silent electric-start set with an AVR and a tank sized for about nine and a half hours of running, up to the STA silent range, such as the KDE12STA, KDE16STA and KDE19STA, with three-phase STA3 versions. The KDE19STA is rated 14.4 kVA at 50 Hz, with its exhaust ducted out of the top cover and the oil and coolant fill points laid out for service access. Send a photo of the plate so we can confirm the model, the phase and the kVA.
Why a Kipor diesel generator will not start
A Kipor KDE that will not crank usually has a flat battery or a loose lead. On the STA sets we also check that the panel is not still holding a shutdown from the last run.
If it cranks and will not fire, air drawn in after the tank ran low is a likely cause on a small diesel, so we check the fuel level, bleed the system and test the fuel solenoid.
Fuel delivery, injectors and pumps
On the compact KDE sets, the fuel filter and the tank outlet come first, because a small engine starves quickly when either is part-blocked.
When a Kipor runs rough or smokes under load, we confirm fuel delivery and check the air filter, which works hard inside a silent enclosure, before we quote an injector.
Controllers, ATS, cooling and output
We note what the Kipor panel shows, including any alarm and the running hours, and trace the alarm before anything is reset.
When the set runs but the load does not transfer, we test the ATS and the panel’s start output.
For overheating on enclosed Kipor diesel sets, we check coolant, the radiator and the fan.
Once the engine holds its speed, we measure the output at the breaker and test the AVR; on three-phase STA3 sets we check every phase.
